Old Time Bus Excursion
Thursday, 15 May 2008

Hundreds of Barbados Labour Party members, Group Shot at BLP Picnic supporters and well-wishers descended upon the Ermie Bourne Highway as the party held its Old Time Bus Excursion to Barclay Park on April 28th, National Heroes Day. Picnic baskets, barbeque grills, popular Barbadian games and music all formed party of the day’s festivities as Leader of the Opposition and political leader, the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, Party Chairman Dame Billie Miller, current and former members of parliament, and other members of the BLP family took time to mix and mingle, relax and enjoy the picturesque East Coast.

Dame Billie described the excursion as “a great success” and added that the support shown by members was evidence of the fact that the Barbados Labour Party is “in good heart” with the “confidence and determination to regroup and rebuild.”

The day was of special significance to the party not only as it joined Barbadians in recognising and celebrating the contribution of our ten national heroes, but also because April 28 marks the birthday of the Rt. Excellent Sir Grantley Adams, one of the founding members of the party.

The picnic and excursion was the second event in the year long 70th anniversary celebrations of the Barbados Labour Party making the party one of the oldest political institutions in the region. The next event is scheduled for May 17, 2008 when the Christ Church South branch holds a Health Fair at Oistins Bay Garden. Other upcoming events include Crop Over limes and fetes in July and a Family Fun Day in August as the party celebrates 70 years of service, commitment and progress.
